The Walk: from Turin Center to Chieri

A journey that starts from the beating heart of Turin and winds through places of sharing and community, between the city and nature. “Silent Steps among Turin’s Cohousings” is a 3-day journey, from May 31st to June 2nd, to discover housing realities that have chosen sharing as a founding value, experimenting with more sustainable and supportive ways of living.

We start from Porta Susa and the lively area of Porta Palazzo, one of the largest open markets in Europe, where the Numero Zero cohousing welcomes travellers with its inclusive spirit rooted in the social fabric of the city. From here we cross Turin in silence, a unique experience that transforms the rhythm of the city into a conscious flow of steps, along the Po and through the Valentino Park. Then, leaving the city centre behind, the path climbs towards the Turin hills.

The landscapes change rapidly: from city traffic to the silence of the woods, from concrete to the earth scented with wild garlic. After the first day, we will be welcomed by the community of Cascina Siè, immersed in seven hectares of greenery, where nature dictates the rhythm of life. The second day will take us to Superga, with its breathtaking view of Turin and the Alps, to then delve into the most remote paths of the hill, far from noise and human presence, immersed in absolute quiet. In the evening, Montesole will welcome us, a cohousing on the top of a hill that recalls the Tuscan landscape, among 17th-century buildings, a pond and free-roaming chickens.

The last stage will lead us to Chieri, where the journey will end with the return by train to Turin. This journey is an experience of discovery and inspiration, to get to know those who have chosen to live in community, while maintaining a relationship with the city, and to rediscover, step by step, the value of sharing and conscious presence.

How will we prepare for the journey?

Enjoy the experience with maximum lightness!

We will be supported by a support van in which we can load any tents and what we will not need during the single day’s walk.
During the walks we will use small backpacks to carry the food we will need during the day, which will be prepared by the communities that will host us.
We will travel along hiking trails (difficulty E) and short stretches on roads with mixed traffic. Given the length of the routes, adequate physical preparation is required to sustain a pace of 3 km per hour.
